a fresh month

Welp! We made it to December! How is it that time is such a weird concept? I felt like we were in March for about 32 months, then summer came with a lockdown, and now it's already Christmas time. I'm not complaining. I love a new month...new calendar...new set of meals to prepare on the list... and all the joy that comes along with this time of year.

A new month brings a new prayer to get us started. I've been thinking a lot about what we should pray. There's always something on our list to pray, but I feel like we are wrapping up a year like no other and I can’t help but be thankful for God's sovereign rule and reign in our lives....even when...especially when, we have lost all control. He has the final word. Our lives basically stopped. So much changed, but His love and thankfully, His peace was near.

I don't think I am the only one that became a little scared and had a little anxiety this year. Mom told me to read Psalm 91. I heard it multiple times throughout the year and it doesn't disappoint. If you have time, go read it. And then read it again. I want to thank Him for reminding us that in the middle of a pandemic, He still controls the rivers. He will not let anything harm us. This world belongs to Him. He is a good God. He is a faithful Father. Let's pray.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We worship you now for keeping us and sending your Holy Spirit to comfort us in the middle of a crazy year. You are a good God. You sent your word to remind us that you would cover us with your feathers and under your wings we would find refuge. NO harm will overtake us, and no disaster will come near us. You command your angels to guard us! Thank you. Help us to trust that you are a good God no matter what life looks like. Help our unbelief. Thank you that you bring beauty from ashes and what looks like a crazy, useless year, you will bring something that is beautiful, and beyond our imagination, to give you glory. Keep our eyes on you as we go into a busy season. Keep our focus sure.

In your name we pray,

Amen.
